- Instagram, 🏗️ New milestone unlocked! Yesterday we hosted a “topping out” ceremony to celebrate the completion of the steel structure for the Museum’s new Mark Rothko Pavilion. The ceremony is a custom by builders signaling that the structure has reached its final height, with one of the uppermost steel members set in place. Staff and guests commemorated by signing the beam. 🌲The evergreen tree (as you can see perched on top of the beam) signifies the safe and steady progress of construction. Opening Fall 2025, the almost 22,000-square-foot pavilion is the centerpiece of our major campus transformation that will renovate or add nearly 100,000 square feet to the Museum and add new amenities to welcome all visitors. The Museum and @Mortenson_Construction recognize and thank all of the partners that are a part of this complex project, including Urban Resources, Inc., @Hennebery.Eddy Architects, @VinciHampArchitects, and the many sub-consultants, trade partners, and craftworkers that have contributed. 📸 @MarioGallucciStudio [Video description: An orange steel I-beam with a small tree and American flag is craned and secured onto the top of a steel framework.]

Visitors can now check out a pair of EnChroma glasses *free* to use during their visit. There are 3 adult pairs and 2 youth pairs which include pairs designed to be worn over regular glasses. These boost color perception for those with red/green colorblindness up to 30%! Globally, 350 million people experience colorblindness and see as little as 10% of the million hues others see. The EnChroma glasses are one tool we are using to continue our goal of making art accessible to all. Thank you to Jason, Danny, and Russell for trying them out! - Instagram, 📜🎨 Happy birthday to the poet of landscape Jean-Baptiste-Camille Corot was born #OnThisDay in 1796. His landscapes are characterized by their ethereal quality, soft light, and delicate brushstrokes. Known as “the very poet of landscape,” he tried to capture the subtle shifts of light in serene views. Corot painted this work in the vicinity of his parent’s country house in Ville-d’Avray, south of Paris, positioning his easel in the reeds by a pond. The realistic play of light on water provides a subtle pathway into the composition, while scattered field workers hint at the rhythms of rural life. 📍See this and two other works by the artist in “Monet to Matisse: French Moderns” — Jean-Baptiste-Camille Corot (French, 1796–1875), “Ville-d’Avray,” 1865.
